Overnight, I put some Pokémon in my level 2 training resort at Pokémn Pelago.
After 26 play sessions, I checked save data and each Pokémon's Speed EVs went up by 2 per session for a total of 52.

If I improve the training island to it's third and final stage, will EVs increase by 4 per session, or still only 2 per session?

I also noted that the meals at the 1 star Battle Table facility in Festival Plaza only raise a given EV by 10.

What is there to do once you beat the game, assuming I have no interest in online battles. Are there any challenging single player battles to compete in where breeding and training Pokes is necessary, or is IV breeding/EV training really only if you plan on playing online?

SOS chaining.

Level 3 training island will also give 4 EVs per session, leave up to 6 Pokémon per section or 18 total to gain 8 EVs an hour. Good to do overnight when you're asleep, easy 64 EVs for example.

S.O.S. chains once you have the power items.
The poke pelago isle evelup is also good once it's level 3 and you put beans in the cart.
Takes roughly 15 hours to max one stat. and you can put in 18 mons at a time.

Why is Wondertrade full of Abras?
Is it abra for abra? maybe they want more natures covered.

It's basically only for legendaries.
In order to use it, you must:
1) Possess a bottle cap for every individual IV you wish to max. These are rare as fuck and require untold poke pelago grinding for shards to exchange.
2) The pokemon must be level 100. The best place to grind exp is at the Elite Four rematches, which have ~lvl 60 pokemon. You do the math.

You need to level a pokemon to 100 before it can do the IV training, the bottle caps are the other annoying part.

Collect beans, trade some of the better ones for upgrades, especially Isle Abeens first thing. You can also get some beans from the coffee stands sometimes.

Otherwise, it depends on what else you want out of it since it's good for idle and passive gains. Upgrading Isle Evelup to its final rank grants 4 EVs in any stat per half an hour without beans, taking 63 sessions (15h30m w/ beans, 31h30m otherwise) to have one of three groups of 1-6 Pokemon max a stat.

Hyper Training technically doesn't touch the IVs for the sake of Hidden Power and such, but rather assumes the stats boosted by it are maxed in battle.

The requirements are fairly steep in requiring regular bottlecaps for a single stat and the more elusive golden ones to max them all, as well as needing a Lv100 Pokemon in a game where Trainers go up as high as Lv65 and EXP gain is based off Gen V's system.

So in previous gaes I used carbos, protein etc to boost stats, in this one I found there is none of these said items but instead something more odd (forgot the name) and I find my 'mon are able to use absolutely loads of them, what gives is there no cap? I think I used about 70 to get Munchlax's HP to increase by 3.

I'm also finding a lot of rare candies all over the place, do they still give negative effects on levelling vs traditional levelling?

I feel bad for people that get info from the dude, because sometimes he does give legit good info, but a lot of the time he's either being retarded (he was "farming" for Heart Scales by chaining fucking Luvdisc until somebody outright told him you could just buy 'em in this gen), or he's being a raging faggot (yeah, sure, bottle caps on their own encourage hacking. The items still exist. Mostly they're pickup items and fixed drops, but you can find them in other places as well. I don't think they're in any shops this gen, though.

The only "downside" Rare Candies have ever had was making it harder for you to gain the stats from EVs. Before Gen VI, you didn't get the stats from EVs except by level up, meaning a Lv 100 Pokemon that had room for 100 EVs would never see the stats from those EVs.

The 'box trick' was technically a workaround that updated the stats properly. In Gen V onward, effort values are applied after battle and so Lv100 Pokemon can gain them properly, since they formerly were applied through EXP gains.

Why do they introduce you to facilities like the Battle Royal so fucking early on if you can't feasibly use it until you've grinded to level 50 or thereabouts? Why don't they just make it so that it scales UP your Pokemon levels the same way that it scales them down if they're over 50? This has bothered me for several generations now.

Destiny knot and the other items function mostly as before, correct?

Bracers have been greatly buffed to ease ev training- cool, but once the evs have been maxed, is that all it takes to benefit from the resulting gains in stats, or do pokemon (even though they are usually down leveled to 50) need to be trained to lvl 100 to get those gains during battle tree and whatnot?

I also understand that bottlecaps are an option, though those are pretty difficult obtain.

Do the type matchup missions. If you have the type chart memorized you can easily make 25-50 FC every time an unlimited amount of times, depending on how many people are in the mission with you and how well you did.

Once you hit a certain level, you can ask people if they know any good shops and they can sell you one of theirs for 50-1000 FC, depending on rank. You could try looking for a dye shop then if you don't get one in the next few levels.

Yep, they give a single EV a piece. Calcium, etc. is way more efficient, giving 10. There's only one Pokemart you can buy vitamins at, it's Mount Hokulani's.

Aside from the obvious "teammates who cover types Golisopod doesn't", it pairs well with Alola Persian that has Darkinium-Z and Parting Shot. Z-Parting Shot heals the pokemon switching in, and lets one pivot quickly to Golisopod while restoring it back above 50%, giving another opportunity for a First Impression + Emergency Exit.

But was your pokemon lvl 100? since EV play into stats the following way:
(EV/4) * Level / 100
So if you have 40 EV you get 10 extra points in a stat, but only on lvl 100.
On lvl 50 it would only be 5. on lvl 10 it would only be 1.

You can use one of the Pelago Islands to level up Pokemon but it's slow as dick. Pretty sure its only meant for Pokemon that are really low level that you want to bring up to useable levels for when you get access to the Pelago, which is after you get Charizard.

Also, the ones released after Gen 1 aren't alien, but they're not as ingrained in me due to less exposure. I've played at least one game a gen since the beginning, but 7-year-old me had a hella better retention than the later stuff.

Question about the battle tree, is that shit rigged or something? Seems like hacks happen way more often than they should.

RNG doesn't exist in the Battle Tree. If there is a chance for something to not go your way it will ALWAYS not go your way. The only time positive things will trigger for you is when it wouldn't have mattered and you would've won anyway.

You get it too late in the story unless you lucked out and stumbled upon a pile of eggs on the second island. The typing is okay but you probably have better grass types and something with Fairy already, making the dragon typing worthless.

It's meh. Catch it for the dex data and move on. Mostly good for memes. Might have merit in competitive, but I've not heard anything like that.

The last move i like to switch around for whatever i need at that moment. Not like heart scales are hard to come by.
Substitute when farming dittos.
Soak when farming ghosts.
Simple beam or something like that when i look for some hidden ability.

Don't see the reason to have spore or something like that on my mon that's just there to keep the chain up.
Once I decide to catch something I just switch out for Raichu and paralyze it.

We did all of that. Both of us ran around the plaza with internet on and refreshing the guest lists for about 10-15 minutes before my friend just gave up.

The problem was that no matter what, neither of us showed up in the other guy's plaza, so we couldn't even register each other as VIPs because we've never seen each other ingame.

alternatively you could build a chain smeargle (false swipe, recycle, recover, damage move, holding leppa berry) which makes chaining a breeze. it's easier once you outlevel whatever it is you're trying to chain by about 30 levels, especially using a pokemon that can heal itself, or if you have leftovers

If you've already beaten the game, take the Tapu of your choice, teach it false swipe, and go inna woods and beat up birds. Tapu Koko is good for this because he needs trained for Attack EVs anyway and Trumbeak gives 2 Attack EVs (4 if chained).

Trying to think of what else I have left to do post game wise. I have:
-wandered over to the Battle Tree and fought Red/Blue
-met Guzma at his home and fought him
-met Fabu at Aether Foundation and fought him
-met with Pokemon School Principal (top floor of school) and fought her
-collected Cosmog from the alternate world
-captured all UBs and Necrozma
-fought Ilmia, Lana and Kiwai for their stances
-collect all the Zygarde cells

That's it, right? Outside completing your pokedex, of course.

Does anyone know if the Zygarde cell listing on serebii is completely accurate? I went through every single spot, one by one, and after about 2 hours I'm now at 99/100 cells. I really don't want to do that again, I know I checked them all at the right time and place.

I have a question about Poke Pelago EV training

I know already that you can get 252 EVs by having your pokemon go through 63 sessions, but it lasts 31 hours.

I also know that you can cut that time in half using Pokebeans.

My question is, how many pokebeans to you have to use to halve the time of the entire 63 sessions? does it even matter how many pokebeans you use?

regular is :20 pattern is 1:00 raindbow(which are better used for refresh imo) is 2:00, 31:30 would take 16:20(would be 15, but 20 is lowest) worth of beans

No, it works like in gen VI, the pokémon participating in the battle already get full exp, since the exp share doesn't actually divide the exp, but duplicates it.
