Speed of mons could've been much better. Poor Gumshoos has neat Atk and abilities but shit defenses and even shittier speed. Same with Crabominable. Evolving late game was another annoyance.

Also and more importantly, UBs being legal to play with was a terrible mistake. The Tapus are one thing, but UBs are way too damn optimized to be fair this gen.

They made Diggersby good/usable along with most if not all Kalos mons. And of course there's Talonflame who dominated Gen VI.

Toucannon and Gumshoos would be great too if they had more Speed. Toucannon to 100 min and Gumshoos to 85 min.

And it isn't even Stakeout. Gumshoos gets Adaptability as its HA, which is accessible.

I have to admit, it was a nice surprise to finally see Crabrawler evolve when it did, but some of the evolution methods in SM were a bit too obscure for me. Nothing more obscure that what we've had, but it was a shame not to be able to use a handful of Pokemon playing the game blind. Level up + Stomp comes to mind.
