>>30382691I'm not talking about the formula at all. I'm talking about general quality and small things that pile up and up and up that make the difference despite not seemingly looking so at first. It's about game design and choices like that.
Something that utterly baffles me of Pokemon is that they don't improve upon the games, if there's a good feature from a generation instead of keeping it and adding to it on the next game they completely remove it with a flimsy excuse of "keeping the games unique" and to "surprise the players or just "haha I don't know". Look at customization in SM, it's worse than the one in XY in every single aspect. How or why is this possible?
Look at Festival Plaza. It's a complete and total RNGfest. They tried to make a combination of Join Avenue and PSS but completely failed to understand why people liked those two things.
Models were future-proofed.? That's an excellent idea, but was it that hard to downscale the models so that the game doesn't run at 10fps whenever there's more than two Pokemon in the screen at the same time?
The games need a massive amount of polish and developers who don't have their head up their asses with their "vision" and that can also code for the sake of their lives.
