Gen 1 is pretty popular right now. With Pokemon go having only gen 1 mons, most of SM mentioning Kanto like it's the 2nd coming of christ.
It would be stupid of GF not to capitalize on this Gen 1 craze and remake FireRed and LeafGreen.

jesus fuck, kanto was accessible in at least 4 games and you could find at least 10 different pokemon from gen 1 in every pokemon game up to gen 4, not to mention that X & Y reused so much shit from gen 1 that it might as well have been a remake.
