For example, Ohmori thought putting that Battle Frontier miniature in ORAS was going to be taken as a cute nod to Emerald, since Ruby/Sapphire take place before it but back during the original RS they didn't know they were going to make a Battle Frontier in the future, but now they do so they put it there for world consistency/continuity.
Instead, it was predictably taken as a spit in the face of fans.
