I've never used conversion before and the description on bulbapedo seems somewhat vague.

If I made Porygon's first move ice beam, would it become ice type until switched out when I use it?

Oh yeah preferred type is electric thunderbolt because it hits a lot of everything neutral with an adaptability boost of 2x stab along with those boosts and porygon's really good special stat. Also resistances and only 1 weakness is pretty solid.

Shadow Ball in the first slot is really great, since Ghost is fabulous typing, and means that SE Fighting attack headed Z's way just got nullified.

Mimikyu with Z-Splash? Don't make me laugh. Solgaleo with Z-Splash is not only probably about as effective, but it is the only way to make it good at all.
