There isn't a single bit of extra content outside of battling that doesn't directly affect battling in some way. That's the game.
Any themes of friendship or bonding is purely from the narrative. Expecting some side content where you play Pokemon Preschool and coddle your pokemon for the payoff of cutesy faces and floating hearts is fucking ridiculous.
All Pokemon Refresh does is act as another feature to make the singleplayer run even easier. Between that and the return of exp share, the single player game is mindless easy mode. They even added reminders of what moves will be super effective when used. There's no more trial and error for pokemon you've never seen before. There's no more having to remember type advantages or pokemon typing, the game literally says "use this one", then after the fight, the game comes back and says "heal up your pokemon for free" as if petting the fuckers on the top of their head extracts poison from their bodies.
The game effectively killed the theme of being a pokemon trainer. You're now just a chimp who can check a variety of screens instead remembering anything about the game.
These hand holding changes should be enough for you faggots; you even get to pet your pokemon for the refresh, there's your "bonding" time. Yet you faggots want more side content that amounts to nothing more than hugging and cuddling your pokemon until you get a message along the lines of "pikachu's love for trainer is overflowing". What a fucking joke.
