Game mechanics are not comparable to pokémon forms.

They even kept the contest stats in Gen 5 despite them being completely useless until ORAS.

Meanwhile, Spiky-Eared Pichu and the Cosplay Pikachus literally don't exist in the games anymore, unlike AZ's Floette.

So yes, it means something.

I hope this is to do with erasing of megas altogether. Either totally or from multiplayer. If some people like and enjoy them I don't care, just for me personally it's an unbalanced retarded attempt to make pokemon which were forgotten to be used again, and it turned out to be a half-assed digimon knockoff. Either change the mega evo so its limited to ''first starter you got ever''- hence the lore (grows the bond with you), or remove some megas like mega mewtwo, salamence, gengar and other op shit like that.

They still exist in the Pokemon's data but go unused. Even if you import one with max beauty, you still need to use the prism scale because the game isn't checking the beauty stat.

I think the menu sprites are just leftovers, since a more recent compilation had the cosplaychus replaced with hatchus and the event Pichu was nowhere to be seen.

I mean, the game still has menu sprites for items from Gen 4 and 5 that were never even obtainable legally. The same probably applies to the pokémon menu sprites.

Gen 7 only has one mythical who hasn't appeared in a movie (Marshadow), and since 2003 they've always used event pokémon to promote movies.

So if this gen lasts 3-4 years like the ones before, they'll need to find as many eventmons as they can. Eternal Floette could be used for that.
