The shiny chance will not be better than SOS chaining. SOS chaining is easy, the downside is that you can't 100% control the Pokemon's nature and you won't get any egg moves, which you can guarantee by breeding. With a 6iv ditto, you're liable to get a 5iv offspring, as opposed to the 4iv you'd get from chaining. It isn't a guarantee, you might get 5iv and have one of the ivs be something you don't need, but if you get lucky you don't have to hyper train, something that's pretty much mandatory on SOS shinies, provided you even get the right nature.
If you don't care about battling with it and just want to collect, SOS is better because it's faster. If you do care about battling, breeding is better because it's you can control it better.
