Why were the UBs shaped/looked like various characters? We now know Lillie, Guzma, etc. don't turn into them.

The others are likely red herrings but I think it's pretty implied that Lusamine dressed Lillie up like Nihilego since she's obsessed with them. Which makes Lillie's Z-form outfit change all the more significant to her character or... whatever, I guess.

It's possible she may have wanted to look like Pheromosa but since we never ran into one in the story, this one's a bit more of a stretch. An even bigger stretch would be Buzzwole and Gladion's colour schemes, as well as Xurkitree and Guzma's.

The only parallels were Lillie and Guzma.

We already know that Lusamine dressed Lillie up like Nihilego. Same can go for Guzma and Xircutree.

Only Lillie because Cosmog and Nihilego were the only Ultra Beasts Lusamine knew of. UBs 02 thru 04 are discovered by the player and eyewitnesses during the Looker missions.

That's not even a stretch. Lusamine already had a habit of changing peoples' apparel, and even offers to change Hau's. We know she's obsessed with UBs and that Guzma is obsessed with her. Only makes sense that she would choose what he wore, and made him look like Xurkitree.

This entire theory was pretty fucking stupid when people took it beyond Nihilego and Lillie. The connection there is obvious, and it's believable that there's still an intended connection in-game through Lusamine's actions. The supposed similarities between Lusamine and Pheromosa, Gladion and Buzzwole, and Guzma and Xurkitree are shaky at best, and that's with the knowledge we have now that Lusamine has likely dressed at least one person up like an Ultra Beast.

Before the game came out it was grade-A stupid. The entire connection people drew between Gladion and Buzzwole was that they both have a black & red colour scheme (common), and Gladion's torn sleeves look kind of like the spikes on Buzzwole's shoulders. Idiotic.

The actual form itself can't really fight. Nihilego are parasites that bring out the potential in their victims,so when they fused nihilego brought out her potential as a trainer allowing her to channel Z power into her pokemon.

I still think Faba would have been better for Buzzwole. He has the pointy nose and the weird bug eye glasses. I was expecting him to inject himself and hulk out or something to turn into the muscular form Buzzwole.

Gladion has 0 design similarities to Buzzwole other than wearing red and black, and he's mostly black with like little slashes of red.
