They hate object based pokemon because they don't look "cool" to them. If there's a "cool" looking object based pokemon, they don't have a problem with it. "Running out of ideas" means "I think it looks uncool".

I would have literally no problems with vanilluxe and garbodor if they were mascots for companies in Pokemon or something, but they're living creatures that are supposed to make sense coexisting next to creatures like eevee and pidgey.
