My theory of why trainer re-battling is so poor in this game is that they wanted people to redo the league so they can fight the new challengers, but there's literally 0 incentive to do that since is so slow and harder than spam a single attack on some weaker trainers or kill random wild pokemon, you don't even get to see your hall of fame on the PC anymore.
