Because they think every rival character has to be an unrealistically insufferable cunt like Blue or Silver. Even though it was obvious from the start that he was a spin on the "friendly" rival like Bianca. I actually find him to be a nice balance in the middle. He's a friendly rival with the competitive spirit of the unfriendly one, to the point where at the end he's genuinely frustrated that he can't beat you. It's an interesting place for his character to go.

A coworker of mine is Hau. He is literally a grown-up version of this fucking cocksucker.

He's the nicest guy you will ever meet, but also annoying to the point of making you want to tear your fucking ears off. This wouldn't be such a problem if 1. everyone in the office didn't love him to death for some reason (being utterly incompetent, he relies on the help of others to do ANYTHING, in all areas of his life, though that's more of a Lillie thing), and 2. he wasn't, of all people, specifically a fan of ME. He somehow decided I was the most interesting person he's ever met, follows me around everywhere, strikes meaningless conversations all the time, tries to "emulate me" because he loves the way I act in general. Nintendo could seriously sue him for copyright infringement because of his fucking personality.

One thing I'll say about Hau is that he's in my opinion the first and only rival who pulled his weight in double battles during the main story. That raichu was doing more work than me in Aether.

I like him but he everything that could be part of his character development was underdeveloped. Like his father leaving him behind to train because he was tired of being in Hala's shadow, his increasing frustration with losing (it felt like he was starting to hold resentment towards the MC after the Champion Title Challenge) and the focus on his contrast and change with Gladion ended abruptly when both of them got shafted from the plot.

Nurse here. 180 honestly isn't bad if you're fit. Usually most patients I deal with are severely underweight and can't seem to manage any sense of fucking nutrition for whatever reason.

Anyway, Hau's okay. I personally leaned towards him being rather annoying with "aw shucks, lost again :))))" but I was glad they had Gladion to tell him off for that shit. Otherwise, he was fine.

Exactly opposite in my experience. 90% of the longer fights were 1 vs 2 to my disadvantage because he got fucked up too fast and if he managed to land a damaging move it was wasting Primarina's Z on a 5 hp target.
