How did Hau pass the island challenge if he never beat his grandfather, the Kahuna of Melemele, until after the credits?
Is this some kind of OS anime Ash thing where Hala recognized his strength without being defeated by him or something?

I assume Hala doesn't go full throttle on new challengers and Hau knows that. Pretty sure he meant Elite Four team Hala.
