Donphan is basically unforgettable. Great concept and execution, and first introduced in a Pokemon Movie that wowed kids with Pokemon they had never seen before.

I agree with your notion OP. Gen 2 has highly forgettable and bland new Pokemon, which is why I generally consider Gen 2 the worst.

It's a lot easier to name the ones that are forgettable since a vast majority of Pokémon from Gen 2 are memorable. So I've gone ahead and marked the forgettable ones with a red X for you.

For the record this doesn't mean that I don't like them.

Marill line has Azurill in Gen III, Togepi line has Togekiss in Gen IV, and Swinub line has Mamoswine in Gen IV so you missed those as well.

I've noticed the majority of people who like Gen 5 also love Gen 2/HGSS, which is why whenever that trifecta of the best Pokemon games image gets posted, HG/SS and B2W2 are never contested, but everyone debates over whether Platinum should be replaced with Emerald.
