Well, he doesn't mention randomly waking up on a beach with no memory, and he seems to have a photo of one of his family members in his shack, and he seems to mysteriously avoided Lusamine's attention despite running an incredibly popular service for the region, so it's not exactly a clear-cut "he was sucked up in a wormhole" scenario it initially would seem to be.
