Worlds is the only tournament which isn't open for everyone to enter, you qualify by winning enough CP over the season, depending on your location. The bigger the tournament and the higher you place, the more CP you get.

This is specially true this year because the CP bar is very high and the CP given by tourneys is pretty low compared to previous seasons. The cherry on top being the International Championships pretty much being almost a necessity if you wanna get into Worlds.

It used to be free to enter until a season ago, and entry fees are going up (prematurely imo). London Internats have a 40 quid entry fee (but if you did very well at '16 you could get a paid flight, stay and entry), and I can't imagine it getting more expensive in the foreseeable future. Prizes are considerably better, though.

Those are the rules, and players will use the rules to their utmost advantage. If you think it's lame, then complain about the rules, not the player who is just playing within them.

Sitrus is 25% when you're below 50%

There are a bunch of berries that heal by 50% when you're below 25%, but also can confuse you based on your nature. As long as you pick the right one to go with your nature, it ends up fine.

You're dumb. There's berries that heal 50% in a pinch but it's dependent on your Pokemon's nature otherwise they'll be confused. For example, the Mago Berry has this effect but it only heals Pokemon with +Speed natures.

Pelipper is nicer on dedicated rain teams, especially in singles with U-turn support. VGC this year though doesn't really have any good rain abusers and U-turn isn't nearly as good. The 4x weakness to Electric is also a liability this year.

Politoed on the other hand just has so much utility that it makes for an interesting support pokemon even on non rain teams.

The level of bulk difference between Tapu Bulu and Celesteela isn't even comparable. Also running gastrodon in a season with basically no rain teams means that you plan on using it for its bulk over anything else.

I wouldn't describe Wolfe's playstyle as stall though. It's more just playing carefully/controlling the game. I noticed in both games he dominated he got off to an early lead, then slowed down and challenged his opponent to find a win rather than forcing the issue. That's not stall, that's just smart/careful play.

The inspections are basically entering the team to BS, and considerng pkhex has a better hack check than BS, you need to be an idiot or use a poorly genned mon traded to you in the last moment to get caught. Getting a mon DQ'd over silly teamsheet discrepancies is more common.

Only thing I don't like about him in his videos is when he starts laughing about some stupid thing, like Tapu Fini taking like 15% with Wacan Berry and Reflect and no Terrain from Tapu Koko's Wild Charge. One thing I don't like about his videos in particular and not really him specifically is that he doesn't take accounts of things like Life Orb on Pokémon that very likely carry them, so his EVs spread are totally fucked up by a Life Orb, Specs, or a Z-Move. I feel he knows that perfectly though when it comes to building teams for himself, from what I saw from his battle.

I don't really think you need the bulk with +1 speed though. Xurkitree outspeeds a lot of the meta with it (basically all non-scarf pokemon) plus being able to run Protect allows you to get around a lot of its counters with its partner. Overall though, I think Adrenaline orb is kinda underrated in this meta.

Chomp and Marowak are so common you're guaranteed to run into at least one of them. Wak also resists both Dazzling Gleam and Power Whip. +2 Milotic does mad damage to top kek with Scald, and threatens Bulu and other bulky mons with burn.

I usually pair Xurkitree with a Gyarados plus Marowak in the back. Weakens both of them with intimidate and can KO either with waterfall or ice fang while Xurkitree protects. Plus if they lead garchomp + intimidate, then I can kill it with HP Ice.

Turns out there isn't, even though the formula goes by the nearest power of 2 above the no. of participants. It might be a hard cap on the number of rounds in a day, or refactoring between rounds depending how many players dropped out.

If they did a full set of swiss rounds (which keeps going until only one player is x-0) there would only be about ten players who were x-2. They need more than that, so they never intended to do the full number of swiss rounds.

If you mean "Why is Celesteela more popular than other Ultra Beasts?" Try watching games with them. It's very difficult to KO without specific counters, and can easily deal big damage or whittle things away with leech seed.
Some of the other ultra beasts are alright, but they tend to be super-frail or weak or slow, Celesteela has everything.

Because the other UBs are so minmaxed they explode the second you poke them on their weaknesses. They can do good in singles but in a meta where you costanstly need to watch out for two attacks per turn, having a glaring flaw won't help you.

UK competitive gaming scene on a whole is in a really sad state, it's basically dying out.

I don't just mean Pokemon but just gaming in general, quite a few of the more known pro gamer teams in various other videogames have basically disbanded or shut down recently. The new generation of videogame players are all super casuals now so it is really hard to find proper sparring partners IRL.

Reason most of these guys are so good is they find their one competitive friend and they play hundreds of games against each other until they get consistent.

244 HP + 36 Sp.Def EVs survives HP Ice from 252 Sp.Atk + Life Orb Tapu Koko and Nihilego.

116 EVs on Speed to outspeed some stuff listed on here: http://imgur.com/gallery/WGOJ8

Hydro Pump to do damage to A-Marowak if you don't want to waste your Z-Move yet or if someone sets up rain. You could replace it with Dragon Pulse, Roar or any other thing that fits your team if you want, though.

Why would you run Fire Fang when you get a free Stab Physical Fire move in Multi-Attack? Hell, it can be multi purpose even. You could also run Electric Silvally with Koko imo.

People are writing this mon off too easily.
Multi attack is the safest hard hitting Electric attack not named Thunder Punch, and will be boosted my Electric Terrain.

You could run Electric Memory with Thunderbolt and Ice Beam.

I've been theorymoning Silvally and I would run a bulky set with the Steel Memory to resist mostly everything or with an Expert Belt and BoltBeam, Snarl/Parting Shot and Protect.

Sadly, I think there are better mons for this job.

Well hidden power is a move and this tournament was scheduled about two weeks after the game was released, so everyone who was planning to end more than 0-3 genned their pokemon, including a guy who put his porygon (a gift-only pokemon) in a beast ball and a dozen perfect shinies.

But if you meant the cheating that actually got people sanctioned, some of the best players at the tournament had the gall to put "porgyon" instead of "porygon2" or meadow plate instead of miracle seed or incorrectly identified the stat reduced by a particular nature when handwriting their team entry sheets. They were punished to the full extent of nintendo law and will probably lose tomorrow because they can no longer bring the incorrectly identified pokemon.
