Lana and Mallow are a bit flat.

Mina and Mallow are still one of my face by concept alone.

Either way, a good spread of "bosses" this Gen. Among the greats of Johto and Unova Gym Leaders, which is a nice change of pace after both sets of leaders in Gen 6

I think the Dragon trial was just because GF wanted to put more content on Poni Island without increasing the number of trials and captains from only 7.

That's how I felt about her too. If you're playing Sun you don't get to battle her so you miss out on seeing a lot of her character. Makes her a lot less memorable.

My favorite, it's tied with Mallow and Acerola and I'll explain why:

Mallow has a lot going on for her, she already works, taking the family name and helping out in the kitchen, I'm a food worker as well and I can tell she's very diligent and takes attention to detail, works as a team and can manage her time, she's very shy too and it adds to her allure.

And Acerola is cute! cute! CUTE!

There's nothing wrong with the distribution. 1 for tutorial island and then 3-2-1 for the other islands is perfectly acceptable.

The problem with the Island Challenge was that Game Freak was not satisfied with breaking the patterns from previous gens by replacing the Gym system, but they also tried to change the Island Challenge System itself as the story goes.

The Island Challenge was supposed to be comprised of 7 trials around all 4 island, plus 4 Grand Trials on each island, and finally a battle against the 4 Kahunas on top of Mt. Lanakila. But once you reach Poni Island that entire system falls apart.
>one of the Kahunas was fucking dead and had to be replaced by his midget granddaughter with your help
>one of the trial captains doesn't even have a trial
>you find a random trial site that doesn't even have a captain
>then instead of fighting the Kahunas you fight the Elite Four because of Kukui's League
>but two of the Kahunas have been replaced by one of the captains and a rich girl who once completed the Island Challenge

But the current captains needed to be at least 11 to start the pilgrimage. There's no way Lana is older than 13, and Sophocles looks like a fucking toddler.
