I would've agreed with you a few years ago, but alternate forms are becoming a bigger thing in the games now with Megas and Alolans, and it seems to me that if they're going to be preoccupied with new features in the first entries of each gen then they could let the remakes/third versions/sequels carry Megas and whatnot.

Hoenn was still on GBA cart, it needed to be updated in that respect. Instead of remaking FRLG they put it on the shop. Every region is now on DS so DPPt remakes shouldn't happen, but I think they will regardless. Once a series gets into remaking older instalments, they usually just keep going every decade that the next not-remade-yet instalment ages.

This is a loaded statement. What's considered a "good" reason varies from person-to-person. As far as I'm concerned, there's actually never been a good reason to remake ANY of the games because you can just go back and play any of them right now. It's not like every GBC and GBA spontaneously disintegrated.

Failing necessity, the only reason for remakes is if you're going to do something different. They did that with ORAS and there's little reason to think they wouldn't do that with a Sinnoh remake.

I'd much prefer there never be remakes at all but you know that's not going to happen.

As far as GF is concerned, the only reason is $$$.

If VC killed Kanto, the fact that you can run your the physical copy of your Sinnoh game in your 3DS means that Sinnoh didn't even have a chance.

It would sell hotcakes.
Think about it. POKEMON RED AND BLUE2. The normies would lose their shit. Slap Charizard and Blastoise on the covers and that shit will fly off the shelves.

They literally just have to make that, and no matter what's IN the actual games, people would buy it.

It would also be much better for veteran fans of the series, instead of ANOTHER version of the old Kanto, we get to see Kanto 20 years later. New Gym Leaders, new mons living in the area. Seeing shit like Saffron and Celadon city fully upgraded. It would be pretty cool actually.

"Data mining locations" hasn't meant anything since Gen IV because "Johto" was listed as a location when Johto was the single region you couldn't get Pokémon from. Now we can have Pokémon from

It's like you've never actually played pokemon games or so consumed by anti-genwunnerism you're completely blinded. Here let's do a little plot summary of each game and compare, I mean if it's so obvious and all. I'll start

Every gen plot: become pokemon master catch them all beat the league

Gen 1: team rocket breaks into and trashes a house in cerulean, Bill turns himself into a pokemon, help a seasick ship captain, bust up TR using a casino as a racket, TR kills a marowak and terrorizes lavender town looking for pokeflute, help an old man retrieve his dentures from the safari zone, TR takes silph co hostage to steal masterball, Giovanni turns out to be the mysterious viridian gym leader.

Gen 2: team rocket maims slowpokes for money, then they take attempt to induce energy into lake of rage to evolve magicarp, then they take over the radio tower to attempt to regroup and communicate with Giovanni.

Gen 3: magma/aqua grunt stealing Devon corp shit. Maxie/Archie taking the orb thing at the moutain, locate their base, they flee to activate groudon/kyogre, they do but you stop them.

Feel free to do the rest but I think you'll find that it's nearly exactly the same thing every time. Team bad guys introduced via grunt doing some thuggish lackey shot, then you foil some medium, throwaway "we didn't really need this anyway" operation, then you thwart their ultimate plan to destroy/steal/conquer generally right before the last badge or trial. The end. It's a classic three-part build-up, it's in every game including the first ones, no more no less. The only thing I can think of that motivate someone to believe that gen 1 somehow didn't have a plot is that they are confusing more dialog for more plot.

This is a big problem with pokémon games, and I would say it is one of the biggest reasons they really the same. There's no experimenting with the concept to make some actual changes to progression and plot.

Some of the newer games tries (and often fails miserably) to flesh out on the characters, but really there's no distinct difference between now and then besides the fact that they make the game utterly predictable by slapping a legendary mascot on the front.

You can really deconstruct the plots even further if you want to, but your deconstruction is more than enough.

Aside from FRLG remakes have been made due to demand. There is no demand for a Sinnoh remake at the moment and I doubt there ever will be given the general lack of interests.
If one does arise in the future however, I'll be solely because GF wants recitify all of the mistakes they made with that gen or to shill another new mechanic like megas or Z moves.

Hgss weren't made because of demand, though. They were needed to help get johto pokemon, who were a hassle to get back then, and the actual GSC games were very difficult to come by if you wanted one with all it's battery life.

You had to have the GBA games and the DS games and kept them for around 10 years and then put in the effort to transfer them to XY to have them in Gen VI. That's probably why they made ORAS post game aka legendaries everywhere. With how Sinnoh Trio is in ORAS. I don't think they'll remake sinnoh.

The excuse for HGSS was because the Johto legends were basically unobtainable event mon until they came out. This made them far more easily accessible (although they were available in the gamecube games). FRLG similarly made the Kanto starters and legends more widely available.

The only reason we got ORAS is because Hoennbabbies are loud, obnoxious whiners. Sinnohfetuses are proving to be little different. I expect nintendo to cave to them.

After FRLG and Emerald they were fairly easy to obtain. DP made it even easier with the addition of the GTS.

Replacing the battery is ridiculously easy anon. Fakes are a different story but for some reason fake carts aren't that common with gen 2 games.

I own replacement batteries, a soldering iron and a gamebit screwdriver and I STILL can't figure this shit out. The tutorials online are all complete shit and assume you know more about soldering things than the average person.

Platinum came out in 2008 and can still be played on current hardware. HGSS did not feature Kanto prominently, and it contained no plot, just gym leaders to beat. FRLG is 12, almost 13 years old now. We need Kanto remakes more. Sorry Sinnohcuck.

I do agree though, that Kanto re-remakes would have to do something entirely different plot-wise and even aesthetic-wise to warrant existence and reason to buy a 4th fucking time. I personally would love to experience what supposedly occurred to Kanto during Gen 2's events.
