Considering you can't get UBs or Tapus until post-game without trading, it went pretty right. Not to mention the fact that you used shitty old Gary's team instead of what the player character's could have been in Generation 1. For example, they could have all three legendary birds without trading before post-game.

Only for the fact that you get less experience throughout the main game. Suicide grinding was a must for most teams which is why they made the first run of the elite four so easy in GSC.

Also now with the GTS and wonder meme it's more convenient to trade pokemon and level up quicker before the elite four.

"Different" is the word you fags are looking for. Generation I designs were detailed to look more realistic. Now, they're detailed to look more likeable. It's changed a lot, but it's gotten neither better nor worse.

Considering the context, not really. Blue's moveset is a joke, but then again most Gen 1 pokémon also had pretty barren movesets, and infinite TMs were not even a thing.

Which is why I'd consider Blue to be harder than someone like Diantha, I mean sure Diantha has a Mega and semi-competent moveset, b ut you have so much more pokémon to choose, abilities, hold items, infinite TMs and in general improved movesets + Exp.Share and your own Megas

Because for something to get worse or better, there has to be a different in quality. Both Generation I designs and Generation VII design have their strong points. Neither is weaker than the other.

I agree good or bad are subjective, but there are ways to determine the quality of something. Typhlosion without its flames is worse compared to Typlosion with flames.

Actually, considering the context, he's still easy as shit. There was a good chunk of mons with good moves, and TMs were mostly useful.

And again, Lorelei's team is actually somewhat competent. If you have a decent enough team to beat her Blue can't do jack shit to you unless you specifically have a full team of Alakazam food.

I was a good 5-8 levels below the Elite Four but I found it to be one of the tougher Leagues of the series personally. In XY and most gens I just swept each E4 member's team with one Pokemon while I came down to my last Pokemon on two of the Alola E4. I play with set battles for reference rather than switch. A lot of my Pokemon were getting OHKO'd even without super effective damage due to the level difference and I tried to fight every trainer and didn't run from wild battles.

Kukui actually took me a few attempts to beat, him setting up Stealth Rock on turn 1, then setting up tailwind with Braviary and then spamming whirlwind really crippled my team pretty badly and is a strategy I haven't seen other NPCs trainers exploit. It felt more like a showdown battle thanks to the fucking sneaky pebbles forced switch strategy.

Tauros being one of the best Pokemon in Gen 1 still trips me out to this day. Him, and Golem have gotten cucked so hard it's almost infuriating. I'd put Rhydon on there as well but he eventually got an evolution, Rhyperior was OU in Gen IV I believe, and I think is like RU today

All normal types got completely fucked after Gen 1. Honestly, bringing back the whole "Kill for no penalty" thing Hyper had in Gen 1 might be nice for the typing as a whole. It's not like steels don't wall you either way, unlike they did back in the day.

Normal is still a decent defensive typing. Stuff like Chansey, Blissey, Snorlax and Porygon2 have all been in the spotlight in several generations.

No even given the context Blue is easy. I replayed it on the 3DS VC and a freshly caught level 40 Gravelers in Victory Road come with Rock Throw, Earthquake and, Self-Destruct. instantly has a better moveset and can wall and beat 4/6 of his team >>30698151

His movesets outside of Alakazam, Gyarados(if you don't pick Charmander) and his starter are full of garbage tier 30-60 power Normal and Flying moves.
