It's no secret that the pokemon creators/devs are batshit retarded. How difficult is it to remove variable factors to equalize the playing field? How difficult would it be to remove the iv system, anything that hinges on rng, and install presets for what can be allowed so that any pokemon with unnatural abilities or moves can be screened out immediately? They just don't give a fuck, they never have - or these simple implementations would have been done already.

Depends really. For example, legendaries and pseudo-legendaries are often inherently better, but because you can't breed them it's much more difficult to get everything to line up on them. Without editing tools, we'd probably see more use of less optimal setups, or people preferring other options that are more reliable. Especially because the more competitive players also tend to be the laziest, which is really just because Pokemon has never respected the player's time, knowing its biggest audience is children who have all the time in the world and don't care.

That last part is also why nothing will ever change. The game's success is founded on tenets that appealed to children. Being able to use anything you catch and randomness making everyone's pokemon unique to each other. They may toy around with balance and competitive aspects, but ultimately they're a novelty when it comes to what actually sells the game to the target audience.

Doesn't the real skill come through understanding what the opponent is using and being able to strategize against it? I don't see why it can't be a competition when everyone is using the highest potential they can get and can still lose because they aren't good at battling. People can hack pokemon all day and still suck because they don't know how to use it.

Uh, no. It's just not possible to get the right IV combo to make Hidden Power a viable option using legitimate methods. Especially since GF has only created options to allow maxed IVs instead of a more free method of control.

That requires an insane amount of travel and bartering with a trader. Not to mention the possibility of it being hacked which defeats the purpose of playing legitimately.

Uh, yes? Now you can max your IVs to 31 in each stat thanks to Hyper Training AND keep the Hidden Power you already had. So, just breed until you get the HP you want, then max those IVs. Not that hard to do, it just takes a bit of time to get the RNG.

Also Hyper Training is a problem in itself because Sun and Moon has no places to adequately grind or any O-powers meaning it takes forever to reach level 100 further extending that time.

That would require flights and various other trips around the world or dealing with extremely stubborn people who have most likely hacked the mon in anyway.
Once again you're underestimating how much of a hassle this is for the legitimate player.

Barely lessens the tedium for one mon let alone an entire team. Now combine that with the Hidden Power antics.

Also there's the whole swapping mon in and out of your team in your down time. Needless to say the hacker is going to have a larger pick of prepared mon than the legitimate player is because of that extra time they have on their hands.

Were they international?

The first tournament I knew was Journey Accross America in 2006, then Video Game Showdown in 2008, and then it became WCS since then.

I use some 4 IV Dittos that I got. It's still very fast to get a 5IV Pokemon by replacing parents.

When I'm allowed to transfer, I'll use my set of RNG abused Duttos from SoulSilver to make it even faster.

I'm 100% legit. Everything I got I grinded for myself. I'm against cheating in multiplayer games. The point of Pokemon is to catch and train your Pokemon for battles. I hate how competitive incentivated people to cheat more and more.

It's not cool at all, it trivializes most of the accomplishment in the game. You basically destroy the fun in catching a shiny or breeding a perfect IV Pokemon because it's not special since there's thousands of cheated ones out there and there's no way to differentiate them.

How is it a good thing to ruin major aspects of the game?

It's like if you made an MMO and people were allowed to cheat to gain the best armors and weapons in the games and tried to justify it by saying "I'm not dumb enough to waste my time doing the content to get this gear."

That MMO wouldn't survive, in the same way Pokemon will never be a serious esports game.

You're no better than one another, the original goal is for you to use a team of pokemon you bonded with that gained EVs with EFFORT over time. Not some cleanly set up stats with months of planning and study and execution with calculations.
