But even to this day, I don't know anything about Falker, Bugsy, Chuck, Morty or Pryce's personality, their character. They had no involvement in anything. Johto doesn't have much of a story to begin with, and those Gym Leaders weren't even involved in any sidequests. They were just there, doing nothing. I actually remember two NPCs, Youngster Joey and Picnicker Tiffany, more than the Gym Leaders simply because I interacted with them more through PokeGear.
The Gym Leaders of Johto left no impression.
Now, I won't say SM characters are that different from the rest of characters. Everyone knows Kanto Gym Leaders. They left a good impression, even if only due to them being the first. Unova Gym Leaders are great. Hoenn was the first time there were actual puzzles in every Gym, and that made them, and the Leaders by extension, a bit more memorable. Johto, though, is bland. The Leaders had nothing going for them. They left no impression.
