Since it's an older sealed product, you should get at least whatever paid for it back by selling it.

Opening it won't help you if you want to play tournaments, none of the cards would be legal except maybe stuff like Switch.

Check on eBay for how much the last few sold for, that's how much it's worth.

That's when players do the smart thing and sell cards that are about to rotate while they still have their value.

And don't forget that Expanded is a thing, it's the main reason why Jirachi-EX is still a $19 card.
