Good typing, great ability, shit stats. He's just too weak to really threaten anything. If he had 110 or even just 100 attack it'd help him out tremendously.

His movepool also sucks. He'd probably be one of the better sticky web setters, but for some reason he doesn't learn it.

To be fair, it kinda felt like Gen VII was pushing a uptick in slower, tougher pokemon. Perhaps in reaction to the speed arms race from the previous gens.

It is so, so good in the rain. Runs through Celesteela and Skarmory like it's no problem, even threatens Tapu Lele. If you switch him in safely and your opponent's Pokemon can't touch it, any switch in is a free OHKO or 2OHKO. Running it on a rain team right now and it is amazing, hitting 1500 on the OU ladder so far. Then again this is also prebank, so I'm unsure how it will fare against Rotom-W and friends

You don't know anything, Araquanid is not frail at all. It's taken hits I didn't even think it should be able to take, max HP and Atk and it's ready to tank, especially special hits
To be fair, it has a little trouble with neutral physical hits, but you really shouldn't be sending this thing out against something like Dragonite

Water bubble is amazing in boosting liquidation to 255BP (after factoring in STAB and WB boost). Great bulk allows it to tank many things from the special side and Mirror Coat if you don't. STAB Lunge always lower target attack by one stage, making it possible to tank on the physical side too. Access to sub toxic, infestation, and power split allows it to stall if you want. The only thing this mon could be made better is if it get reliable recovery.

He works really well on Trick room teams but also does wonders vs. Trick room too. Slap a brave nature on him with 0 IVs in spe, and you'll find yourself outslowing a lot of things.

Go ahead. Go try and take on ANYTHING that resists water.

He can't hit hard enough to threaten anything that resists water and he doesn't get any good support moves either. He could be a terrifying wallbreaker with higher attack but as it stands he's just gonna be RU.
