But people extract their save and edit their competition Pokemon anyway, and it's impossible to detect as long as they are subtle about it. VGC management caught wind of this, but their response was laughable: they started using the team sheets players submit to detect discrepancies.
Two huge problems with this, first is that these sheets were meant for commentators only, so a lot of players don't pay much attention when filling them out, resulting in a lot of false positives (at least two people got eliminated because they got their sheet wrong, after they started using them for anti-cheat purposes).
Secondly, this only detects moveset/ability changes, it doesn't do shit for natures and EVs which are invisible in an actual match, unless the judge is actively running damage calcs on every attack which is unrealistic.
Basically it's a big problem right now.
