Will GameFreak ever update the models for gen 1-5 mons?

Just 3 games in and in the same system and they already seem like they are aging bad and do many mons no justice. The gen 6 and especially 7 models look pretty polished and full of life. Thoughts?

All the models are fine. A few could use livelier animations, but most are fine in that department too.

If there is a Switch entry next year, they better have higher res textures prepped.

They should put Pokemon that glide in place, like Salamence, on the ground like their amie/refresh animations/models. They look better this way.

They're already high-res. Too high-res for the 3DS to handle.

They've got models that are higher quality than the ones used in Wii games on the 3DS, which is about on par with the Wii's predecessor, the Gamecube, in terms of power.

That's why the framerate drops when there are multiple models on screen.

The models are fine, it's being displayed on a 240p screen that makes them look shit. If you've seen them extracted from the game in videos they actually look good since they've made them so high poly they won't have to redo them for decades. That's why the game lags on 3DS so badly. Gen 8 on Switch will use the same models but it'll look far better being on a 720p display. The animations could be better though, they seem lazy a lot of the time but those aren't as difficult to do as whole new models when you're dealing with like 10,000 polys.

Ever since I saw some battles on X/Y I felt like the new Textures were a downgrade compared to the traditional 2D Sprites, the difference in the palettes used is just way to fucking big.

the way I see it, if you're not in the alola dex you're a bonus pokemon. Not worth the effort of needing a massive update if only a few players will even bother to use them.

Models are fine, they need to fix animations and certain poses.

Just think, if Oricorio was introduced in Gen 6 all 4 of its forms would be gliding in place.

I like sprites better than models too..

Gen v was the tops as far as that goes. It was still good ol' 2d pixel love, but without being static images. I wish they'd have kept that going at least one more gen.

you're right, but the models made from Gen 6 and gen 7 have higher polycount than the ones on the wii, meaning, they have better quality, which makes the 3ds struggle after a few of them appear on screen

Yeah, shitty flash tweens and thumb-sized pixels on the back sprites were way better than actual models with animations and interactions, why can't things stay the way they were when you were a kid :C

The colors are atrocious. The idle animations could be better too. But the models themselves are passable (for the most part)
