>>30838545FR/LG were my favourite pokemon games for a long time. Gen 1 map is great with gen 3 mechanics is better, a decent post game too. First time I actually tried to catch them all and I got close. It was fun until I realised I had to trade basically all gen 3 mon over from RSE which I just couldn't be fucked to do. I loved the whole "this is what you did last time you played" recap.
Then Pearl was released and I think I prefer it overall to gen 3.
Either way here are some stupid things about Game Freak, right?
1. I know recently they've buffed some pokemon, and changed certain mechanics (like burn, etc.), but for the most part they just add more shit onto pokemon; more pokemon, more mechanics, more abilities, etc.
2. They keep removing aesthetic changes like the aforementioned "last time you played" flashback, and shit like following pokemon and changing your outfit (in ORAS). Why? If you're continually adding shit to the core mechanics of the game, why can't you continually add these nice aesthetic changes? "MUH UNIQUE EXPERIENCES SO PEOPLE WILL STILL PLAY THE OLD ONES" Fuck off Game Freak
3. After replaying Gen 1 when they re-released them, yeah, they're broken as fuck, but fuck me is it more simple and enjoyable. No abilities. No breeding. Sure, getting DVs are a pain, but there's essentially no EV training, that is, just kill everything to max your stats. Overall Gen 7 is now a mess of everything they've piled onto the series over the years. It's just too much now imo. They need a reboot to remove a lot of mechanics and shit, but retain the aesthetics like pokemon following you.
