>>30858374this. why don't any of you idiots understand that some pokemon are designed for a specific portion of in-game and nothing more. Hell, back when Onix was designed competitive battling wasn't even a thing so there was no reason to make it good.
Literally the only pokemon Onix was designed to fight against were Charmander, Squirtle, Bulbasaur and maybe Rattata, pidgey, butterfree, and nidoran.
It's supposed to test to see if you understand how to use super effective moves and the difference between special and physical. So if you just use Rattata and shitmons with only normal moves up to that point you got your shit wrecked, but if you use your starter's special moves you win. And with charmander it's slightly harder since charmander is supposed to be "hard mode" of the 3 starters. If you look at it this way its shit stats make complete sense.
