>>30868495Three languages use Dartrix (English, Spanish and Italian). French is the only one that calls it a barn owl, while all other languages simply call it an owl and focus more on the fact it throws feathers like darts (except German which is basically 'Tree thrower').
Fukuro is from Owl and Throw
Ppaemiseurou is from from olppaemi and throw
Tàuhyúhhīu and Tóuyǔxiāo are basically 'feather throwing owl.'
3/9 of the languages call it a Strix
4/9 call it a (feather) throwing owl
2/9 do their own thing, but still focus on the throwing.
The common link is their way of fighting.
Rowlet in comparison is focused on the fact it is a wood owl, while Decidueye's common naming is in relation to the fact that it is an archer owl.
Look, I'm not trying to say Decidueye is some sort of amazing design. I'm arguing the fact that it fits in line with the evolution progression both culturally and thematically sound.
Losing it's typing, it either goes from Common species -> Endangered Species -> Extinct species, or it fits in with the concept of Pueo owls being ancestor spirits.
Archer design fits in with the dart throwing aspect of Dartrix (which honestly I barely noticed) and taps it off with arrows.
It's a fitting design. Whether or not it's good is somethng else entirely. I got a thousand and one problems with it, but that's just nitpicking.
If you want to see rants about actually awful designs, ask me about Monster Hunter's Glavenus >>30868646Oh yeah, as I said in this post, I got tons of problems with Decidueye. The goggles are stupid as hell, the hood should be down to give it a more regal air that Dartrix has, the stupid bow wing, etc.
We go from cute bow tie, to designed like a tuxedo, to Robin Hood (bandit). That's the biggest clash of the design for Decidueye against the rest of the line.
