Bored, I decided to switch it up and breed some stuff for the battle tree

While I was hatching bagons, one of them came out shiny
I can't even use the rng seed method because I saved last like 6 hours ago and had random encounters in the middle

I'm starting to think chaining might be faster than egg breeding
I'm aware that the odds are slightly lower and how only about 3/4 of the encounters will have the maximum improved chance, but for each egg I hatch I can knock out about three mons in a chain
If my main interest is to complete a living shiny dex and not competitive breeding, couldn't this be the better option?

depends on the mon. Some pokemon are a bitch to SOS, take Mimikyu and Sandyghast for example. Mimikyu each require two moves to faint, effectively halving efficiency, and Sandyghast spam sand attack and kill each other with bulldoze. For those Breeding is the better option.

I found shinies for both mimikyu and sandyghast.
Dhelmise, however, never FUCKING calls for help and it NEVER FUCKING SUCCEEDS. I've hatched like 700 dhelmises and haven't found a single fucking shiny, too. Masuda is a niggerfaggot and I hope he dies for making this stupid shitty method that doesn't fucking work.

The bottom screen can be useful when Gamefreak wants it to, but that's the problem, they always switch what the bottom screen does and they don't give you options for what to do with it (especially in Gens 5 and 7). It was best in Gen 4 when it had all those functions available to you without having to dive into pause menus, and Gen 6 whern you could leave it on the Super Training screen and always see your eggs while MMing.

They could have easily, EASILY had a little button in a corner of the Rotom map that switched to a quick party summary, like the Poketch had. I mean, you're not going to need the map all the time, and you're especially not going to ever need guidance from Rotom because it just spouts a handful of random phrases after you've beaten the game.

Highest SOS point is 1/683. It goes up every wave. I think it maxes at wave 75?

Whoa, this is weird as fuck. I was looking in my dex and saw that for some reason, I have both shiny male Kadabra and shiny female Kadabra forms in my Pokedex. I've never encountered any before, and I haven't scanned any QR codes of those. Any idea why this happened?

Update: Going through more, and the same deal with Meowth, both Alolan and regular forms. I'll try and see what other oddities are in my dex.

that was a pretty uncommon occurrence. generally the shiny chance caps out after 70 encounters - in a row. getting it in what sounds like 10-20 in a single chain is pretty good.

Has anyone seen/has a shiny Lurantis/Fomantis?

Lurantis is my favourite mon from Sun and Moon by far. Caught a fomantis, it evolved into this grass type wrecking machine, and I am considering putting the effort in to get a shiny one.

Do they look good?

Gentle nature, max in everything but Attack and Sp Def. can't change the nature, but the IVs I can hyper train later.

all in all, not bad for less than a day's work. there's just one Alolan shiny left for me to hunt now.

Shiny Mimikyu (Wrong nature, garbage IVs felt very silly) - 450 eggs
Shiny Mimikyu, 5IV - 500 eggs
Then I got the Shiny Charm to attempt Sandygast
Shiny Rowlet, 5IV - 10 eggs. Complete accident, wasn't even sure if I wanted to try for it.
Shiny Sandygast, 6IV - 800 eggs, if it wasn't perfect IVs and the gender I wanted (Male) I woulda been very upset.

Just go for it unless you're seriously thinking of hunting a bunch of other shinies or are planning on completing the pokedex anyway. Depending on how quickly and seriously you try to fill the pokedex and whether you have help or not, it could be 20-40 hours for getting 2 more rolls per reset. Is that worth it just for Null? Not really imo.

Oh in that case, I would assume so. I haven't specifically looked into any comments from GF regarding that. I would assume that because Pokebank is acting like the middle man now, it would be possible. But then again, what would happen if a pokemon earned a ribbon for example or got taught a move that isn't present in gen 6? Perhaps then it would become ineligible until it was forgotten.
