Half the reason AV goodra is good is because there is literally no fucking play rough user in vgc 17 and there is literally no good ice pokemon in the entire game besides mamoswine, who is banned

It's not that it has "a" counter, it's that every single pokemon in the game can kill it in 1 hit, meanwhile it has a couple niche OHKOs on select enemies (less than 5) and has terrible matchups versus everything else. There's really no reason to put it on your team.

No shit it's frail and dies to a slightest breeze, there's tons of mons like that and still get plenty of use because they bring utility despite that. See, Raichu.

All of the top teams are getting along just fine without it.

Also, Raichu is not frail. It's viable (and actually more common) to run a bulky variant.

I think the issue with mandibuzz is that it's a primarily a physical defender and it's weaknesses are too killer. between ice, electric, and fairy special attackers being on every team there isn't much mandibuzz can do, especially when all of those have spread. you'd have to make a choice between Wacan and Roseli and even then that's only 1 turn of protection.

And that's relevant why? Like I said, Gengar is on one out of every 25 teams, AT BEST. Nobody is fucking using the thing. The "top threats" that weavile is so good at killing are not even fucking relevant and you can handle them multiple ways. There's no reason to include a shitmon on your team to kill those pokemon.

because razor claw is really hard to find, and if you do find one you have to trust the other person to trade you back after it evolves. It's literally the most difficult pokemon to find in the game

Well to be fair, all of those things are true IN GENERAL. Tapu fini really is the worst of the tapus. Hariyama really is shit in general. Magnezone really is shit in general, the guy using it just said so his fucking self in the interview before this match. Araquanid and drampa are also pretty bad in general.

The caveat is that all of those pokemon are good when supported correctly, or good at a certain niche. It's still true that you can't just slap these pokemon onto any team and have a successful run. Whereas, you can slap garchomp onto any team and be fine.

He's just been jobbing hard every year ever since Gen 6 started. I'm honestly half convinced only reason he ever did well back during his prime was because there was no competition and most players just sucked hard.

It's half true too since the end of Gen 5/Gen6 start brought in a whole new wave of new player, many either getting too old for the Seniors or people getting back into the games. Lots of them no name players who turn out better than the old crowd.

Therefore take out the Alolawak first and worry about Fini after, it's not rocket science trying to second guess everything sometimes isn't worth it.

I've been looking at Whimsicott, since I enjoyed using it back in 11, though I was just a scrub playing scrubs back then. Whimsicott 1v1'ed a Lando though, so I always found that pretty funny

It should be even better theoretically, now that it's Fairy type. I was hoping for some thoughts. Speed Control seems almost dead outside of TR, and if I could find a way to stop that, Tailwind could give me a leg up. Encore is also always great. I ran it bulky before, and it could take a surprising amount of punishment before going down, and I think it could work again seeing as how Water and Electric seem like really common attacking types this time around
