Cynthia uses Mega-evolution, and Colress uses both Mega-evolution and Z-Power, in the Battle Tree. Maybe these are the versions from the Mega Universe, rather than displaced versions from the original universe.

All speculation, of course. We'll only know if and when they keep hinting at the multi-universe during future games' postgame plots.

I almost thought this meant I couldn't use my annoying as fuck skarmory in PGL competitions, but I found out I could have recreated my BW Skarmory (currently locked in gen 6) that I had to breed in HG from BW2 onward. Also, destiny knot wasn't a thing in Gen 4, so it won't take nearly as long as it did the first time to get good IVs on it

Personally I think the original universe being destroyed is a bit much. But after the UB storyline I'm pretty sure the Mega-Universe theory is something GF is going for. I think it's pretty neat and potentially interesting if handled right, but I'll be surprised if it's ever anything beyond hints dropped in post game plot.

The only thing I know for sure is people will never stop arguing about this.

Now think about Hoenn and the suqad of Groudon, Kyogre, Rayquaza, Latias, Latios, Regirock. Regice, Registeel and you could even add Deoxys and Jirachi. Not to mention all the powerful trainers like Steven, Wallace or Brandon

They are truly incompetent at all aspects other than the battling part of the game.

To be fair there weren't exactly many people to catch, or even fight a deity and check the types it might have.

And as for the sudden introduction, this is one of few things PokeSpe did right. "Hey, these pokemon have some common traits that distinguish them from other types, how about we classify those as a new type?"
