In Brazilian mythos, there's a creature called the boto encantado, or "enchanted dolphin" Basically it's a weredolphin that charms people to come down to the riverside, assumes it's true form, then drowns them. My idea is that it's a really disgusting looking creature, but due to it's enchanting powers(it's water/fairy) it lures prey into its domain.
