I'm planning on trading and evolving to get pokemon, but why make it possible to get these pokemon but make it an almost impossible encounter rate in the fucking first place?

Why catch a Gengar? Just stick a Haunter for Haunter trade on GTS and it'll be traded in a less than a minute.

Get some happiness raising Berries and plant them in (maxed out) PokePelago. You'll have 100+ Berries grown overnight while fill other dex entries. Feed a Pokemon like 35 berries and it'll be ready for happiness evolution. Stick in the hot springs overnight too while you're at it to save a couple berries.

You're joking right? It takes maybe 10 minutes to find a Gengar while chaining. Crobat is easy as well, it is actually more difficult to not find them. I battled atleast one every time i fought a Golbat in Resolution Cave

The SOS battles don't apply to Scizor, Golem, Electivire, Magmortar, the Porygons, Trevenant, Milotic, Machamp, Alakazam, and Slowking, so there is still a point.

You've been unlucky. In the Rotom Pokedex, you can see the habitats for Pokémon and if you have seen a Gengar it shows where you can find one in Alola. If a Pokémon's Dex entry says "Habitat Unknown", then you will never find it in the wild.

actually, you can find wild trevenants in gen 6, but the problem here is that if you just want to complete the pokedex trading with random people is fine, if you want actual good pokemon you're pretty much forced to buy another version to exploit the GTS
