Yeah I'd go with what others are saying with a Guardian spirit. Although for it to be a Guardian Angel its pokedex would probably need to go into detail about acting as a conscience to their trainers, as Guardian Angels not only protect their client/liege/etc but serve as their conscience according to Christian lore or at least what I remembered from school a long time ago.
