People have been looking forward to this since 2007 and it got shut down four days before release. It's 100% done but nobody will release it because of the C&D.

I blame TPP, apparently KBM didn't want to hype up the game so hard and TPP coerced him into the giant trailer that grabbed Nintendo's attention.

The file you care about inside is a .gbc file, which runs in your emulator. If you're seriously concerned, virus scan it. I doubt there's anything interesting that someone can do to your computer with it.

If anything, just throw it at a burner laptop or a virtual machine, fuck.

There was an obscure way to use .NES music files to exploit like one fucking version of stock Ubuntu but that's pretty damn difficult.

You can fault him for fucking it up in the first place by pushing the release back. It was supposed to drop as soon as TPP finished it, but then he said, "fuck it, I don't want my baby overshadowed by Sun and Moon, so I'll push it back to Christmas." Because of this, three months of hype happened and it ended up on Nintendo's radar. If he had just fucking released in in October like he was goddamn supposed to we wouldn't have this problem.

I can't find it on the Dolphin repo, but I recall reading something about it. Was brought up by emulation general on /vg/.

The gist is for any software these things can just crop up. mGBA, a GBA emulator (surprise), recently had an article about something similar: https://mgba.io/2016/09/13/fuzzing-emulators/

You can't expect every scenario, and even when you try something still might slip through.
