Am I the only one that used to think of these three as being a trio? Ever since Electabuzz and Magmar got evos while Jynx got nothing, it's like she got the shaft.

They were counterparts, the elemental punches were exclusive to them, and were their signature moves, but even before the fun and games started, Jynx got the shaft. Magmar and Electabuzz were version exclusives, while Jynx was ingame trade only. Then the whole "Jynx is racist, lol" thing started, and now she's been buried in a ditch with Porygon and Kadabra.

Not sure if they were, but these past years/generations have changed a lot regarding counterparts and their connections etc.

Mantine and Skarmory for instance, are both counterparts, they both had the same amount of BST with 465, though Mantine got a slight boost in Gen 7 from 465 to 485 BST and also a pre evo from Gen 4. Skarmory got no boost in Gen 7 or pre evo at all unlike Mantine, both of them where version exclusives Mantine in Gold and Skarmory in Silver.

yes. on top of the elemental punches that was mentioned, all three could learn Psychic, which was pretty unusual in the case of electabuzz/magmar since it wasn't nearly that broad of a coverage move back then and it was pretty rare for non-psychics/ghosts to learn.

I see Jynx as a counterpart to Mr. Mime. They are both Psychic, only available through trade in gen 1, and have baby pre evos, despite being introduced in different gens. Also they're human-like.

desu though I thought they had given up on Pinsir. He was always the clear gen 1 parallel to Scyther but Scyther had an evolution that was one of the best mons in the game for 3 gens before Pinsir finally got anything.

The trio of duos that were single evolutions (at the time) with similar stats, version exclusives (for Magmar and Electabuzz) and mid to late game bro-mons that a lot of kids liked.

Beedrill getting a mega, Slowbro getting a mega while Butterfree and Slowking doesn't makes me sad.

I get that some things just end up naturally a little biased or uneven in some regards, but certain aspects like counterparts not getting the same equal treatment like Beedrill getting a mega, while Butterfree didn't bother me to no end lol.

I felt the same way when Pokemon with cross evos got a mega with one while the other was ignored. There shouldn't be such a huge advantage evolving it into one thing from the other.

The origins, the punches, and the original set of babies all point to that. Jynx is also only catchable in the game where neither Electabuzz nor Magmar are in Gen 1.

Probably not, but once a Pokemon has been blacklisted, it ain't comin' back. There's a hair shy of a thousand of the things. Nobody will notice that Kadabra never shows up in the TCG, or Porygon in the anime, except, just maybe, one paranoid fuckwad with an excess of expendable money, spare time and a need for media spotlight.
