The game feels really formulaic, there's always some maze you need to take on, then you get to fight the gym leader. Rinse and repeat.
It happened with the Dynamite Cave, it happened with the Totodile Forest, and it happened with the Gengar Mansion. Not to mention, all of these places have pretty damn high encounter rates, meaning you have to burn through your repels, or just get swarmed by enemies.
Although I just got through the fourth gym and the game could change everything up from here on out, I feel like it's just really repetitive.
The game could honestly be really incredible if they just switched it up a bit from time to time. Everything else in the game is pretty cool, and it seems like it really fucking pushes the limits of what a GBC game can be. I'm hoping I'm just wrong and they eventually do change the pacing of the game from where I'm at, but I don't think it'll happen.
