For the most part that's true, but then there's stupid bullshit like guessing which Mega Zard he's packing and if you guess wrong you lose a mon because there are very few safe ways to scout.

Hopefully since the next Gen will almost certainly be on the Swtich, maybe they will add traveling to different regions, and possibly player interaction in the overworld. Not full on MMO style (though I think that would be great) but you could run into a few players in the game itself.

They could add an item that allows the Pokemon to draw forth the power of two (or all) of its Abilities in a match or something.

Imagine something like Huge Power, Thick Fat, and Sap Sipper all active at once on an Azumarill at the cost of its item slot.
