Without Top Lels and her cancer terrain you can actually counter Smogonroach with priority. Things like Ash Greninja, Metagross, Scizor and brabest birb become viable checks.
She also has one decent moveset.

And what priority attacks KO Phera? Talonflame is basically dead and even then, you could just run Tapu Lele and you're fucked when it comes to priority.

Either smogon bans it, lets OU become even more cancerous or we seperate UBs from OU. I'm in favor of seperating UBs from OU.

It has a chance to OKHO at three hits, any more and it's guaranteed. Yet, to get there, you have to KO another Pokemon and pray for RNG unless Water Shuriken hits multiple times or has higher power than what Smogon's damage calc says.

Download gives it an effective 189-205 base (special) attack stat.
It has an amazing movepool for a bug/steel type
for a revenge killer/mementum mon it's deceptively bulky, where those kinds of mons are known to be fragile.
an event gave genesect both shift gear and blaze kick, adding on to its amazing movepool even further.

It's just not fun to fight against at all.

Toxapex and Celasteela are literally the perfect puzzle pieces to the stall formula. Soon they're going to get rid of all their answers.

You know, what's even more annoying is that this is following the status quo of councils just 'suspecting' obvious threats and making everything drag on longer and longer so their favorites can remain in the game. With any luck, suspecting threats will drag on so long that they'll be free to ignore any other potential suspect the community might want to see put up, like Scald or some other pokemon that becomes a pain in the ass late in the meta.

They've done this for the last two generations, and it's really fucking irritating.

I actually agree with the ban itself. The problem stems from there actually being no discussion anywhere about an impending quickban, and as a result, everyone is wondering what the council is doing if they aren't going to bother with anymore quickbans, especially for Genesect.

For what it's worth, higher staff in Smogon has actually been trying for years to get Baton Pass banned because there's a perception that it allows bad players easy wins in SPL. It's only recently that the combination of the saner staff leaving plus players discovering ways to bust the meta open with that the drive to ban it entirely has accelerated.

lmao at the scrubs on /vp/ who are so shit they can't handle a very narrow and limited pokemon like Pheromosa. It can be checked and countered so easily. bug and fight are not difficult to stop. mega sableye even counters it.

just not even a problem in the meta
genesect however is a HUGE problem and deserves a suspect test.

Gen 6 UU was fun even thought Celebi cancered it up in the last few months.
The only thing I want for gen7 UU is for them to keep Scizor so I can spam my Scizor/Flygon U-Turn core which I love so dearly but I'm sure they'll ban Scizor after the bigger cancer is banned.

one could argue scizor is a bigger threat than pheromosa if one really wanted to

its just too easy to ban every strong mon. bans need to be for specific pokemon that either:
a) clearly deserve bans like deoxys/legendaries
or
b)have an insanely broad movepool with a very high attack/spattack stat

genesect fills one of that criteria, as does lando I, but lele just does not.

I'm playing a joke with it. The meme is mostly about stall because Smogon's policies tend to try to keep every playstyle viable however with each passing generation Gamefreak adds more incredibly strong offensive threats which tend to easily break stall. This ends up with most of them getting banned while defensive mons avoid the banhammer since they are usually easier to handle when isolated but just really annoying when paired with a good stall core.
A lot of the offensive mons banned do fuck with offense more than they do with stall though.
