we won't see any love for gen 5, at least for the next 8-9 years.
I think they will eventually return to kanto to milk that one again for more another set of games when its on the Switch, but Area exclusive forms seemed to be something they only pandered to gen I pokemon.
Anyway, kalos and Unova aren't islands in the middle on nowhere (presumably where Alola is) and so they are probably much more closer to regions like kanto
