See, here's the thing. They could have changed it for literally no reason at all, on a whim, or anything else. That doesn't change how what was actually said is not indicative of romance at all.
What makes this even more funny is you want to look at it from the other perspective, you could try and argue that they changed it to make less romantic for the male MC and more romantic for the female MC.
