To everyone who forgot, Mantine is Skarmory but special oriented. It only needed reliable recovery to be viable for this whole time.

I like 244 HP / 252 Def / 12 SpD with Calm.
You patch up worse defense with EVs but still take nature which takes advantage of better defense (you get more points that way).

Like all of BL2 had an OU analysis last gen, doesn't mean they were good. As with many new pokemon mantine is currently only getting ou bank usage because "it worked for me in pre-bank ou so it must be good in bank-ou too!"

swanna was the best offensive defogger in PU last gen, for as long as pelliper remained NU, at least.

a lot of competitive players did because they wanted to get a feel of the new signature moves and abilities, most good showdown players actually barely touch the real games. Difference now is that they gave it +20 more base HP, so it's not longer the mirror of Skarmory. Although Skarmory has Whirlwind and entry hazard access over Mantine and the typing is a bit better.

Investment in special bulk depending on the current team building metagame and support set run. Also sturdy.

I like Mantine a lot but he can't run the support sets Skarmory gets away with. He's still good, my favourite position is a nice defensive pivot for rain teams. He actually works well as a core WITH Skarmory.
