Every gen has had something good about it. Gen 1 obviously pioneered the whole series. Gen 2 did an excellent job on building what was already established. Gen 3 gave tons of new mons and the ability to run. Gen 4 had the special split. Gen 5 had a lot of literally my moms pokemon I didnt actually play gen 5 so i dont know what it added. Gen 6 had the 3D models. Gen 7 got rid of the grid based movement and HMs.

The worst part is that, ever since ORAS, they've been convinced that they're next in line for a remake, but also somehow certain that it'll take more from Platinum than from Diamond and Pearl.

I played White for the first time last week and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I don't see why people like to shit on these games. They're not bad, and I love how there aren't any old mons in the region until after getting the national dex. That's how it should be with the every gen to be honest. It's like the people who shit on Gen 5 are the ones that have never played them.

It's true though, Gen 5 is by far the least innovative region of all. Gen 4, the one that came before it, gave us the much needed physical/special split. Gen 6, the one that came after it, gave us Mega Evolution. Deleting Gen 5 would result in literally no important consequences whatsoever, and the majority of the fanbase would quickly adjust to it.

Say what you will about Gen 5, but the music was some of the best that mainline Pokemon had at the time. That was one of the best things about the generation.

Mega evolution was so bad, the creators spent the majority of gen 7 making you forget about it. Gen 5 did most of the streamlining that many people insist started with gen 6.

it's not exactly about grinding.
i chose snivy, almost completely useless for the early part of the game and the rest of it thanks to a dearth of moves. until Hidden Abilities were released, it was unfairly the worst of the three starters.
also, Ghetsis has a haxxed Hydreigon, meanwhile I had to spend all my rare candies and solo with my Zweilous for a while just to get a Hydreigon in time for those battles.
