Best current IPS patch:

- Changes CHARM to a fairy move (as intended) so that eevee can evolve into sylveon
- Patched PhloxLab so that it no longer crashes on save
- Fixed crafting exp bug
- Fixed WeepinBell stone evo bug

I also removed all the older download links to IPS and source to prevent confusion as all my fixes are in this one source file and patch.

Titleid is the same as the original CIA that used the new VCs (00F73400), so you can just install over it and it wont affect the activity log, but keep in mind the save WILL BE DELETED so be sure to backup it first with your favorite save backup program, and start it once after you install and then restore your save.

In regards to the "best current IPS patch" I just patch that over an already preexisting Prism rom right? Are there any other patches or updates I should be aware of before I start?

Back up the current .gbc with pokeprismOLD.gbc or something before hand.

Some emulators behave differently and you wouldn't want to start over.

Because they get outdated quickly. All the patched .gbc files have a Sylveon exp bug. Sylveon is on fast group while the other evos are in medium fast. Boxing it will fuck up its level but it only happens once since its recalculating its total exp.

It's really good, only non-bug issue is encounter rate can get annoying when doing puzzles. Other than that, minor bugs here and there exist. Use savestates every now and then and you'll be fine.

Also like the other anon said, explore, and pay attention to what people are telling you, this isn't like a mainline where you get railroaded to the next gym.

All the patches reference the original GBC for consistence. We get updates everyday so unless someone is willing to manage a cloud folder, it's not worth linking the current builds every time.

What I like about so far:
Two completely new regions
Good variety of Pokemon
Game progression isn't hand-holdy and expects you to explore and pay attention to your surroundings
No annoying friend characters stopping you every five minutes
Great 8-bit mixes of Gen 4 songs
Kind of difficult, at least to the point where having a Psuedo as a starter doesn't act as an instant win button

I got HM strength from the Prison after beating the Rival DICKS, freed the one navaho or whatever legendary from it's cell - how do I escape this prison? I don't have the badge needed to use the HM on the boulders outside - so what do I do? Am i missing something?

Keep going up, there are some switches in the upper levels that deactivate the darts and some of the crystals are also in the upper areas. There should be 4 crystals in total and one gas mask

Can someone confirm to me that the Castro Valley gym only has 4 trainers inside, including the leader? I beat all of them, but I'm like 99% certain I didn't get a badge from here (I skip most of the text with fast forward, so I might've missed it, but still).

I'm missing the 9th badge on the list, first one from Rijon. I suspect something bugged out and I didn't get it from the gym leader for some reason, and I'm now stuck. None of the 4 will fight me anymore, and I can't really tell if I'm actually missing this badge, or if it's elsewhere.

Here's another thing that needs checked on: after Route 71, there's a guy who hands you five Pokeballs when you tell him you're working on filling out the Pokedex. After he hands them to you, he says you should be proud about completing the Naljo Pokedex. Seems odd of him to acknowledge that when he knows you're just starting out.

You fought the leader, the order doesn't really matter, the order they're in on the card is the same as in Brown, you can basically fight any of the 12 postgame leaders in any order you like. It's like Kanto where Brock is still considered the first gym leader but you'd normally fight Surge first in Crystal, and fight whoever you like in any order in Crystal's postgame.

If you donwloaded the zip that has the source files, there should be an IPS patch just called "debug" apply that patch to your gbc file and it becomes available in the in-game menu.
Not sure if it might cause some probllem with the devanon patch, but doesnt seem like it to me.
Still, you should always make backups when patching.

Check out the doc in the op, I just looked at Togekiss's moveset and it actually seems pretty sane, compared to the mainline games. Only baton pass and metronome are level -- moves, the rest come at reasonable levels so you could feasibly evolve pretty early

A lot of people are finding it to be good, yes, but it's also that it got shut down just shy of what seemed to be a complete game and there's easy access to the source material to fix or complete what is broken or not done. The documentation doubles as a guide for the game and an exhaustive search of where things are broken so that those with the technical skills and desire can make corrections.

It is working, caterpie was able to use string shot on my yanma 4 times (string shot lowering speed by 2 stages in this game) which should not be possible unless I was getting boosted speed

Think there's a bug with some areas in Rijon such as Merson cave and Route 51 having no encounters built into them, you can see it in the encounters doc and in the game. I don't know if they can fit in more encounters into crystal though, is there a limit to the number of encounter tables to fit in? Might not be worthwhile though, even if it was fixed most of the areas would just be filled with level 5 shitters.

He doesnt just need a fairy move. He also needs a certain number of EVs, as we discovered in the previous thread. So keep training it,but avoid too much happiness or it becomes Umbreon or Espeon. Also, there is curently a bug that makes it level down if you put it in a box, but if you make it battle without putting it in a box it goes haywire, levels up like five times, tries to lear like 6 moves one afte the other, and then ig toes down to level 36 or so.
It levels down no matter what you do, so keep that in mind.

Anon, there is a point where there is a dude blocking the path. He liteally is blocking a bridge, and hands fly to you after a little dialogue.
After the 4th gym, it is literally in your path to the next area.

Not really, you can make it an Eevee, but keep in mind that it has a slight bug. It is not gamebreaking, far as I have seen.

No, I already added the info to google docs:

Requirements to evolve Eevee to Sylveon
1. Have about 66560 stat exp/~260 EVs (This is about 26 vitamins)*
2. Have a fairy type move (Charm)

1 Vitamin = 10 EVs or 2560 stat exp
Gen II uses stat exp for stats and not EVs. I am not sure if this hack uses EVs or stat exp.

Pretty much anywhere. There are some areas where certain stones are more common, but yeah, pretty much anywhere. Although, I reccomend savescumming. Mining is pretty much up to luck, so you might need to do it a bunch of times to get what you want.
And stone based evos get moves. My Ninetails just got flamethrower.

Just make sure the file names are the same as the save files. Always make back ups of the sav and rtc files.

You can even compress the gbc into a zip file to save a little room (specially when using something like 7zip that offers ultra compression). The file in the zip can be any name, just the zip file has to match the name.

I had it happen to me. When I got out of the forest, the one where you become a Pokemon, I used dig to get me out of the forest. On the route just outside of the forest, where the twins were, I used teleport and wound up going back into the Pokemon section of the forest by accident. I wandered around in there, but decided not to save. I caught the wartortle that you find on the beach. When I went back out normally, all my Pokemon besides the one in the first slot had gone, so I turned off my game to revert to a previous save. No issues after that.

Yeah low defense, Pikachu is about speed and special.

Raichu has shit defense (base 55) too. Its why some people give it a focus sash in competitive play.

Its special (defense and attack are the same at 90) should be fine though. Just avoid getting hit by psychical attackers.

Gonna save you some trouble, gardevoir learns moonblast at level 40 something but doesn't learn psychic till 57. I have one on my team still, and it isn't exactly pulling weight either. Then again I am very under levelled by this point.

You are good mate. Gardevoir has really great coverage and solid offensive stats. Learns Moonblast relatively early, Draining Kiss is awesome, and can learn Sound moves from TM's later.

Do you like Flareon? You can get an Eevee and a Fire Stone pretty easily (although slightly tediously).

I added this note to the bug section of the document.

"Aftermath ability shows damage done, but damage is reverted after switching pokemon(unless the pokemon faints)."

The ability was on the drifloon you get by trading exeggcute. It shows the damage done on the pokemon affected, but after switching in a new pokemon it reverts itself. Unless the damaged pokemon faints from the aftermath damage.

I have no idea how many times I've gotten frustrated with a section of the game and just come here for a bit and take a breather.

After putting the game down I go back and do it the hard way. So much more rewarding.

The only new accessible path was the magnet train into Rijon. Then you go there and see that every path is blocked the same way. Except the Haunted Forest. It's pretty straightforward.

I'm kinda stuck after the fifth gym. I don't have surf and apparently the only way to go is through the fire cave, which has an old man who won't move unless I bring a friend of him that lives in a place I can't reach unless I go through the cave (or so I think)

How do I continue from this point on? What should I do next? I have explored every past area and have been talking to almost all the NPCs I can think might have an answer, but I haven't found anything yet.

carl.ips is the patch.
You'll know if it's been applied correctly and you're on the newest version if the main menu reads "version 0.92"
if it says 0.91 you're not patched.

The game was probably mostly finished; that version of the game wasn't what got leaked. We got 0.9 or so - all the main-game content is there, it's just needing tweaking to resolve bugs and missing a few postgame things. We have community patchers working on it already.

Date only increments if your battery is active from Nite 11:59 to Nite 12:00. It otherwise misses the trigger to advance the day.

At least, that's what I suspect is going on. Nobody working on patches right now is interested in fixing it because it doesn't seem to affect anything else in the game.

Did you accidentally load a save state from before the day switched?

Otherwise, I don't know. Maybe if I'm feeling ambitious, I'll look for the code that lets you set the day at the start of the game and find a way to trigger that in the game to change it to something else. Don't count on me though.
