Not really.

Genn 5 had extremely solid games that were fun to play. People are really just salty that BW decided to knock the pacifier out of your mouth and force you to use that gen's specific new Pokemon only until you beat the E4, something no other Gen has done before or since.

New players generally find easy Pokemon games fun.

When did they ever stop treating you as a toddler in that game? Every route and city you would be interrupted by your rivals or someone else. The linear and holding your hand gameplay never ended until post-game.

I don't know why anyone would want to buy a new game in the series just to play with the same monsters and create the same old teams.

Most people like HGSS mainly for the nostalgia of GSC and "muh walking pokemon". The level scaling and grinding is so fucking awful it makes me like HGSS less and I tend not to revisit them.

HGSS annoy me because they don't fix ANY of the faults of the originals. Johto mons still get shafted, level scaling is still shit, grinding is still a pain, but at least we have walking Pokemon right?

I remember nostalgiafags eating HG/SS up and seeing Pokewalkers all over my college campus. It was fun because people were interested in Pokemon again but the games themselves aren't worth replaying. It's a fucking slog.

Oh the irony. It's generally agreed that Gen 5 has some of the absolute worst designs in the series. How anyone could possibly defend the starters, the monkeys, the genwun ripoffs, the genies and MLP is beyond me.

HGSS is easily the most replayable pokemon game in the series.

I've played HG/SS what feels like a hundred times and I've never needed to grind once. You're just bad at battling and probably don't have type coverage. It's your loss.

You should be able to grind new team members without it being a complete test of patience. It's the same issue people have with SM's grinding postgame. Except throughout the whole game.

You're just bad at the game. Safari Zone and new locations gave us more Johto Pokemon, the level scaling poor but not the worst, and we got more pokegear calls, higher leveled trainers and more wild grinding locations. Plus, you have Pokemon following you

There's a game with worse levelling than Johto? Safari Zone was shit, Pokegear is nowhere near as good as the VS Seeker, and the new areas for wilds are an improvement, but not enough.

There is never a need to grind in any pokemon game unless you're bad. You can still kill 40 pidgeys to level up like you would in any game for inexperienced players.

The best part of HG/SS is how easily you can come back and replay the game. It sucks having to spam the A button to skip walls of text like you would in Unova. Apocalyptic stories are also unrealistic and cliche to read through.

As in its not the worst thing ever. Johto's level scaling means its hard to add a new Pokemon late in the game, but otherwise its alright. Its only shit if you're skipping optional locations.

The Safari Zone is only shit if you're going for shit like Beldum or other really rare postgame stuff, so not really important.

VS Seeker is indeed the best, but 44 battles (I think) plus 16 gym leader rematches is a lot. Plus I liked how it gave all the rematch people personality
