Ash may be a good or bad character to anyone, it doesn't matter, what matters is that he has been the face for far too long.
Comicfags will immediately point how superheroes are still around from both sides of Marvel and DC, but then again, the main reason I can't enjoy those are because they refuse to let the newer generations advance. I hate how when Bruce Wayne is close to being 50, reboot the universe is the only answer they come with.
I won't ask for Ash to be 30, or 10+1 year per region. I just want to see the characters being olders, and the shitloads of characters being recurring and not just "Paul was Sinnoh, at Sinnoh he stays". Heck, if the newer shows did something right is to introduce CotD that would then be recurring characters or feature again on the Pokémon League. How many of the oldfags would have love to see Ash battle, idk, AJ on the first Pokémon League? or Casey in Johto to see how far she developed? From Sinnoh onwards we have had those kind of replies, and it's so satisfying, but I insist Pokémon needs an everlasting rotating cast using the ingame protags or whatever.
