Post one thing you liked from each gen. It can be anything from a mechanic to a trainer battle to an area layout to some odd personal preference.

I'll start:

Gen I: Really enjoyed reading about all the glitchmons or trainers you can get out of the game's spaghetti code.
Gen II: I liked the layout of the water routes in western Johto. Relatively short, and Cianwood being surrounded by mountains and water always felt comfy to me.
Gen III: The games felt like they had a certain visual polish at the time, given that they were the first handheld games to make use of a much wider colour palette.
Gen IV: Physical/Special move split.
Gen V: I was personally a fan of only new Pokemon being available, it felt refreshing even if many new mons paralleled Gen I mons.
Gen VI: The PSS and DexNav were really streamlined ways to trade, battle, or hunt mons with specific characteristics.
Gen VII: Bringing back the Gen V experience system was great. It's just a shame there's no high-level postgame location to train, but at least there's Rare Kitchen 5*.
