This game was meant to be Gen 6.5 but then they saw all the autists from places like leddit and /vp/ whining and had to make it a new gen last minute. The way so much of the game is unfinished is proof of this

Those are hot garbage. The starters we got are leagues better

Furthermore, SM's story is actually the most mature story we've gotten, and in a great way because it's subtle about it.
