GSC were amazing, I agree, but I think XY and ORAS are honestly the worst games GF have made, they felt so hollow ,SM aren't much better but they do feel more fleshed out, even if the challenges are very simple...

Ribbons are a different story. They actually require you to play different parts of the game and achieve milestones like 100 wins in a row at a battle facility or a master rank contest ribbon.

Should I bother trying to complete the Alola Dex? I'm at 75% and it just feels like a waste of time. I don't want to spend time trying to evolve some random Trapinch or trade for its evolutions when I've got a shiny one waiting for me in the Bank.

If you plan on breeding/chaining shinies, I say do it. It's not really very difficult save for a handful of shitty situations like Politoed/Slowking, and you can just GTS for that shit. Only takes a day or two if you crack down on it, assuming you weren't slacking for the entire maingame.

If this shit happens in anyway to me, the series is dead to me since you can't just remove a staple that's always been there and charge to even have access to, even though you have the actual game and these pokemons ARE available to get, but just not registered at all because there's no bloody national dex for them.
